Before beginning any collaboration, I will review a writing sample. This helps to determine the level of service needed and to ensure I’m a good fit for your project. I am always happy to provide a free sample of my work, which is often based on the first ten pages of a manuscript.
Editing Services for Books
Copy editing goes beyond corrections for grammar and spelling. It involves fine-tuning copy at the sentence level, ensuring clarity, cohesion, and readability. Other aims of this phase in the editing process are to identify and correct repetition and potentially awkward phrasing, all while preserving the author’s voice. A style sheet will be included with copy editing, if needed, to offer authors an outline of preferences in terms of style, spelling, punctuation, and more.
Pricing is per word, tailored to the specific genre, service level, and deadline.
Proofreading is the final stage of the editing process. This is a careful review to identify and eliminate any remaining errors (typos, misspellings, grammatical/punctuation mistakes, and style inconsistencies). Proofreading targets surface-level errors, as opposed to big-picture items addressed in earlier stages.
